Located under 40 minutes from Westlake Village, Agoura Hills, Calabasas, Camarillo, Ventura, Oxnard, Moorpark, and Simi Valley, CA, our expert team at Pierre Skin Care Institute in Thousand Oaks, CA is committed to helping our clients boost their self-confidence and self-esteem. That’s why we are proud to offer Juvederm Volbella: a dermal filler that will rock your world.

Juvederm’s product line is vast and includes two formulations specifically designed to plump up and perfect your pout: Ultra XC and Volbella XC. Of the two FDA-approved options, the latter is vastly more popular because the results are more subtle.

Frequently Asked Questions About Lip Filler

When Will You See the Results of Volbella?

You will start to see the results of Volbella within three to four days of treatment. It is at this time that the product has had adequate time to settle in and stick. However, you do not just get more volume from the dermal filler itself. Upon injection, your skin is encouraged to produce collagen, a protein that adds natural volume to the local area.

Your lip skin will take roughly four to six weeks to produce new, strong, healthy collagen. During this time, you will notice a gradual improvement. Once your skin is done producing collagen, your final results will stick around for several more months.

Exactly How Long Will the Results Last?

Thanks to Juvederm’s patented Vycross technology, the results of this dermal filler treatment will easily last a year. Many of our clients don’t come in for a follow-up appointment for 18 to 24 months after their first treatment session.

However, for the best results, we strongly encourage our clients to come in for a touch-up one month after their first treatment session so we can perfect the correction if necessary. If you are perfectly satisfied with your results, we can discuss ways to extend the longevity of your treatment.

What if I Asked for Too Much Volume?

Even though this formulation is famed for its subtlety, sometimes you don’t know exactly how much volume you want. Through no fault of your own, you asked for too much volume. Luckily, you don’t have to wait for one to two years for your skin to destroy the hyaluronic acid and your skin’s collagen to weaken and die.

Simply call us at Pierre Skin Care Institute to let us know you’re not quite satisfied. We are more than happy to inject you with the enzyme known as hyaluronidase. You will start to see the volume of your lips shrink within three hours and your lips will be completely back to normal after 24 hours.

Am I a Good Candidate for This Treatment?

The only way to determine if you are a good candidate for this treatment is to come in for an initial consultation. During this initial consultation, we will assess the physical structure of your lips and any fine lines and wrinkles around your mouth. We will also discuss your aesthetic goals to determine if you are a better fit for this treatment or Juvederm Ultra XC.

During your initial consultation, we will also review your medical history and current health. If you are allergic to lidocaine, please let us know. All Juvederm formulations ending in “XC” contain a tiny amount of lidocaine to numb the injection site and ensure your comfort. The needle used for injection is so fine that you shouldn’t feel any pain, but we can discuss your options.

What Options Do I Have if I’m Allergic to Lidocaine?

We get it. The idea of having needles penetrating your lips isn’t the most pleasant thought ever. After all, your lips hurt when they are dry and cracked. Wouldn’t injections be painful? Luckily, you can put your mind at ease. We understand that some people are wary of injections. That’s why we offer several options to accommodate lidocaine allergies.

When clients are allergic to lidocaine, we usually use a topical anesthetic to numb the treatment area. This topical numbing cream can take up to 15 minutes to take effect, so if you are pressed for time, we can use ice to numb your lips and other treatment sites quickly.

How Should I Prepare for Treatment?

To prepare for your dermal filler treatment, prep your lip and facial skin. Make sure your body is hydrated by drinking at least half a gallon of water on the day before treatment. If you have thin skin, you may also want to use lip balm to moisturize your lips and a gentle, hypoallergenic moisturizer, like Aquaphor or Vaseline, on the skin around your mouth.

We strongly encourage our clients to avoid eating pineapple or drinking pineapple juice in the 24 hours before their treatment due to bromelain, a chemical compound that can thin your blood. We also ask that you avoid drinking alcohol in the 24 hours before your treatment to mitigate the risk of blood thinning and ensure you are hydrated.
