KERALASE

PROMOTE THICKER HAIR BY REJUVENATING THE SCALP WITH ENERGY-BASED TREATMENTS IN THOUSAND OAKS

Adults typically lose approximately 50 to 100 hairs a day, but if you’re shedding more than that—and noticing more hairs on your pillow or hairbrush—you may be experiencing hair loss. With KeraLase, Thousand Oaks’ Dr. Peterson Pierre can help to restore and preserve hair growth. Lutronic’s LaseMD and Ultra, also known as KeraLase when combined with the KeraFactor hair growth formula, helps to increase the absorption of the serum in the scalp to support thicker, healthier hair.

Note that hair loss can occur because of hormonal changes, genetics, or medical conditions, or it may simply be a normal part of aging. For some patients, treating the underlying condition or giving hair time to re-grow is the solution. Before starting KeraLase—or any hair restoration treatment—it’s important to first get an accurate diagnosis to determine what’s causing the loss.

WHAT IS KERALASE?

KeraLase is a procedure that combines laser therapy with a unique hair growth serum. Growth factors are proteins that stimulate the growth of certain tissues, such as hair follicles and blood vessels. We all have some growth factors in our body, and they help to replace the cells that eventually get older and die.

See what makes KeraLase™ at Thousand Oaks’ Pierre Skin Care Institute “intelligent care.”
KeraLase™ at Thousand Oaks’ Pierre Skin Care Institute pairs LaseMD® with KeraFactor’s topical growth formulas for “intelligent” scalp and hair care. The laser energy allows the skin to better absorb the rejuvenating serum, resulting in improved hair growth.

The KeraFactor formula used in KeraLase treatments includes a specific group of seven bio-identical growth factors for scalp revitalization in very high concentrations, along with skin proteins. The serum is customized for patients who have thinning hair.

Patients experiencing hair shedding or loss usually have skin deficient in these specific growth factors.

The laser-based devices in KeraLase complement the KeraFactor topical growth serums. It’s difficult for the topical growth factor serum to penetrate the skin when it’s used on its own, so the laser devices improve absorption by creating micro-channels in the outer layers of the skin so that the serum can penetrate the skin more deeply. The serum provides nutrients to the follicles and increases blood circulation in the scalp.

Some people who are experiencing hair loss may also have an excess of other types of growth factors that have a negative effect on hair growth. KeraFactor does not contain these unwanted growth factors.

WHO IS AN IDEAL CANDIDATE FOR KERALASE?

Men and women of any age who are experiencing thinning hair can benefit from KeraLase. Patients who have been diagnosed with skin cancer or have an active infection may not be good candidates for this treatment. If you have an allergic reaction, you should stop using the products and see Dr. Pierre for help.

HOW IS KERALASEADMINISTERED?

During a KeraLase procedure, the scalp will first be prepared with Lutronic’s LaseMD and Ultra devices, which create the beneficial micro-channels. The KeraFactor serum is then applied to the skin.

KeraFactor shampoo—which contains the same growth factors in lower concentrations—should be used between in-office treatments. Patients are also encouraged to use the KeraFactor Scalp Stimulation twice a day between treatments to maximize results.

The KeraLase treatment itself is completed in just five to 10 minutes. There is minimal downtime and discomfort after. No needles, sutures, or injections are involved in this non-invasive treatment, so there are no incisions to care for.

A full procedure includes a series of six treatments spaced four weeks apart.

WHEN DO KERALASE RESULTS APPEAR?

Each patient’s experience with KeraLase may be different, but if the treatment guidelines are followed, patients should notice a fuller head of hair and healthier scalp within around three months. Within the following two to four months after that, the quality of the hair and scalp will continue to improve.

The results are natural, and in addition to supporting the existing hair follicles, the KeraLase procedure is also beneficial for follicles that are added during a hair transplant.

WHY CHOOSE PIERRE SKIN CARE INSTITUTE TO TREAT THINNING HAIR IN THOUSAND OAKS?

It’s important to see an experienced and board-certified dermatologist if you are experiencing hair thinning or balding. Dr. Peterson Pierre, who has extensive training in medical dermatology, is highly knowledgeable on conditions that affect the hair, skin, and nails. He can help you find the best solution to restore thicker, healthier hair.

HOW DOES KERALASE COMPARE TO PRP?

Put simply, KeraLase is significantly faster and is a less expensive option than platelet-rich plasma, also known as PRP.

PRP involves drawing a patient’s blood, spinning it down to isolate the platelet-rich plasma, then re-injecting it, so there is some discomfort or pain associated with the treatment. KeraLase is painless.

Platelet-rich plasma also depends on the quality of the patient’s blood itself. Patients with thinning hair have lower levels of hair growth-promoting growth factors—and can even have factors that inhibit hair growth. KeraLase contains only high levels of hair-stimulating growth factors, with none that inhibit growth.

WHAT ARE SOME OTHER OPTIONS FOR ENHANCING THE HAIR AND SKIN?

In addition to improving hair growth, Pierre Skin Care Institute also provides laser treatments to enhance the appearance and health of the skin. The Lutronic LaseMD device enhances the tone and texture of the skin while reducing common skin concerns. Treatments are available for medical conditions that affect the skin, such as eczema, acne, psoriasis, hyperhidrosis, and more.
