We want to consult with you before agreeing to perform these treatments because we need to see firsthand how severe your facial wrinkling is. We’ll watch as you make various facial expressions. We will note the size of the muscles that are controlling facial expressions because it is into these muscles that we inject the BOTOX® fluid. We need to know the proper injection sites and the dosage required. This, of course, varies from one individual to another.
After this treatment, the muscles will no longer be able to fully contract. Smiling and frowning is still possible, but the semi-relaxed state of the muscles means that smile lines and crow’s feet no long become visible. It takes a few days for the full effect of the injections to become noticeable. There’s no loss of sensation in the facial skin, however, because the solution doesn’t affect the nerves directly, only the muscles into which it is injected.
