Reduce the Appearance of Fine Lines and Wrinkles with BOTOX
The way that society views aging has changed. Gone are the days when people were encouraged to simply accept the fact that they were getting older. Since the baby boomer generation, we have seen a steady pushback from people against what was traditionally considered the role of a middle-age individual. People want to stay healthy as long as they can, they want to stay active as long as they can and they want to stay engaged with what is going on around them as long as they possibly can. They don’t want people to judge them based on their age or set artificial limitations on them just because they might look older.
All of this has led to changes in the way that people view cosmetic procedures. More and more people are willing to use cosmetic procedures that make them look younger. One of the most popular ways to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles and to keep your face looking younger is using BOTOX®.
BOTOX® is not a facial filler. It is not designed to reduce wrinkles in the same way that a product like Juvederm® might by adding volume to the face. To the contrary, BOTOX® is designed to relax facial muscles, thereby preventing the formation of dynamic wrinkles.
For a lot of people, the idea of dynamic wrinkles is something relatively new. In short, a dynamic wrinkle is a wrinkle that forms on your face when you make a facial expression. A good way to understand what dynamic wrinkles are is to look at yourself in the mirror as you make a series of facial expressions. When you smile, do you see those wrinkles that appear along the sides of your eyes or the wrinkles that appear along the sides of your mouth and then disappear once your face returns to a stationary position? These are dynamic wrinkles.
Dynamic wrinkles happen as a result of multiple factors. First and foremost, as you get older, your face loses facial volume. So, your skin gets a lot closer to your facial muscles. As such, the movements of your facial muscles are transmitted through your skin, resulting in dynamic wrinkles. Additionally, your face becomes less elastic, and you have less collagen as you age.
BOTOX® attacks dynamic wrinkles by getting to the source of them, which are your facial muscles. The treatment is designed to temporarily relax certain facial muscles, thereby minimizing the appearance of dynamic wrinkles on the skin above them.
Contrary to popular belief, this does not mean that BOTOX® will leave you with a frozen face. BOTOX® will leave you with a face that is very expressive. The only difference is that certain facial muscles are not going to contract as hard, and so dynamic wrinkles will not be as apparent.
Growing older no longer means that you have to live like you are old. BOTOX® allows you to have a face that reflects the way you feel on the inside and the way you want to be viewed by others.
