Choose Laser Hair Removal for Smooth Skin

When it comes to getting rid of unwanted hair, you have options. Many people turn to manual forms of hair removal because they are easily accessible. However, this does not mean that a person gets the results that they want. We invite you to learn about a better option. Laser hair removal can give you smooth skin without the razor burn, ingrown hairs, and cuts.

Individuals who have sensitive skin have to go through the same vicious cycle over and over again when they choose to use razors to get rid of unwanted hair. It starts with shaving away the hair. While the hair may be gone, this does not mean that the person’s skin looks nice. The first thing they have to deal with is cuts that not only bleed and are painful but that also leave small scars. There is also the irritation that comes from shaving with a razor. This irritation is usually present for the first couple of days after shaving. It becomes even worse when a person’s skin comes in contact with salt water. The last thing a person wants to do after shaving is head to the beach. There are also the ingrown hairs that may even cause infections. A person has to let the hair grow out in order to heal. Then, they are dealing with unwanted hair again, so the cycle starts over.

Waxing may offer better results, but this is also a treatment that can be uncomfortable to go through. And even though there may not be the same issues with razor burn and ingrown hairs, individuals who decide to wax have to go through the awkward weeks as they are allowing their hair to grow out to a length where it can be waxed again.

Laser hair removal is a better solution if you want smooth and soft skin because it offers longer-lasting results. The goal of the treatment is to disable hair follicles in areas where you would no longer like to experience hair growth. Most of our clients are able to enjoy semi-permanent hair reduction. The reason why we are not able to promise complete hair removal is because of the fact that the hormones in the body control hair growth. If a person does not experience a major hormonal change after going through the recommended amount of treatment sessions with a laser, they may never have to deal with hair growth in areas where they do not want hair for the rest of their life. And they definitely will not have ingrown hairs, razor burns, or cuts. However, results vary.

How Does Laser Hair Removal Work?

The first thing that we would like to do is clear up a major misconception that people have when it comes to using lasers in order to reduce or completely stop the growth of hair. Many people have the idea that the laser will burn the hair, which will stop it from growing. When you really think about this idea, it does not make any sense. You may have had the unfortunate experience of having hair burned off your body in some other way; perhaps a lighter or some matches burned off a bit of hair on your fingers or hands. Did the hair grow back? Of course.

One reason why people may have this misconception is because they believe some of the hair may be singed during the treatment process. You do not need to worry about feeling uncomfortable because all of the lasers include some form of a cooling mechanism in order to protect your skin and help you to feel comfortable.

The reason why lasers are able to stop hair growth is because the energy from the laser is actually absorbed by the hair follicle. When it is damaged by the energy, it will no longer grow. Depending on your specific needs, we will either use a laser that delivers heat or light energy. There are many factors that are considered when determining the right technique to help an individual get rid of unwanted hair.

Now that you understand how the treatment works, it is good to understand how the hair on the body grows. Not everyone is aware of the fact that the hair on the body goes through different growth phases. Did you know that not all of the hair on your body is actively growing right now? Only about 20 percent of the hair is going through an active growth phase. In order for any laser treatment to be effective, the energy needs to be delivered to hair follicles that are actively growing. This means that we will need to do multiple treatments in order to give you the best results.

While a variety of different factors will be considered when giving you information about how many treatments you will need, we often see that our clients need to return for a series of laser hair removal sessions. But the great thing is that once a person goes through the recommended amount of treatments, it is not likely that they will experience the growth of hair in areas where treatment was performed unless they go through a major hormonal change.

Before you start your treatments, it is good for you to think ahead about when you will be able to visit our office for future treatment sessions. Treatment sessions are scheduled around your convenience, but it’s still a good idea to plan ahead.

A Few Things to Know Before Your First Visit

One of the things that surprises many of our clients is that we may recommend that they shave away unwanted hair in the days before their laser hair removal session. This is true not only of the first treatment but all of the following treatments. The goal is to treat the hair follicle with the laser. So all of the hair on the surface of the skin can be removed. However, it is extremely important that the hair follicles be left intact. The roots need to be in place for the treatment to work. While you can definitely shave in the days before your treatment, you must not wax or pluck the hair. You usually want to stop waxing or plucking before your first treatment and in between all treatments.

You will also need to avoid exposure to the sun before and during your treatments. Your skin needs to be in good condition in order to qualify for the treatment. Knowing that you will need to avoid exposure to the sun may play a role in when you decide to have these treatments done.

There are certain medications and skincare products that you may need to avoid in the weeks that lead up to your treatment. When you come in for your initial consultation, we will give you further details about how to prepare your body and skin for your first visit.

Say Goodbye to Hassle

Besides the fact that you will be able to enjoy smooth skin that is free of cuts, ingrown hairs, and rashes, you are going to be able to say hello to a whole new lifestyle that is much more convenient than your old one. Our clients have commented time and again that they love the fact that they no longer have the same hassle to go through when they prepare for work or other activities in the morning.

Have you ever thought about how much time it actually takes you to shave your underarms and legs? Do you have unwanted facial hair that you have to wax and pluck on a regular basis? If you are a woman, you may have unwanted hair on your arms that you wax or shave off on a regular basis. You are going to save so much time after you go through the recommended amount of laser hair removal sessions.

You are going to experience a new sense of freedom that comes from not needing to think about or wonder if you have shaved. For example, the next time your friends invite you out to the beach, you can just grab your swimsuit and go. You don’t have to wonder if you shaved your legs, bikini line, or underarms. You just get to go out and have fun with your friends and know that you have smooth and beautiful skin.

Our treatments can be customized in order to meet your specific needs. Here is a scenario that you may be able to relate to: Some men have neck skin that is especially sensitive when they shave with a razor. But their facial skin responds just fine. They like the fact that they can grow a beard out when they want to and then shave it off when they need to be in a professional setting. However, they constantly deal with ingrown hairs and rashes on their neck. Men in this situation may decide to use laser hair removal just on their neck skin. This means that they will no longer have to deal with any of the discomfort that comes from shaving in this area but will still have the flexibility that comes from not performing the treatment on their facial skin.

Women also find that the flexibility that comes from these treatments is especially helpful in areas that are sensitive. A woman may not mind the fact that she has to shave her legs regularly. However, the skin around her bikini area may be extremely sensitive and always break out whenever she shaves. In this situation, a woman may decide to treat just her bikini area.
